Free App of the Day: Oral-B® Launches First Interactive Oral Care App for Kids + Disney Magical Time in NYC Sweepstakes

Oral-B® is excited to announce the launch of an interactive oral care app for kids, the new Disney Magic Timer App by Oral-B
Created in collaboration with Disney, Marvel and powered by DreamPlay®, this breakthrough innovation is an oral care app that helps kids increase brushing time*, which is identified by dentists as an area of concern and improvement for children.
Dental professionals recommend brushing for at least two minutes in order to maintain good oral health. However, research** suggests that most people, and especially children, do not meet that goal, and typically spend less than one minute brushing.
New App Features Disney and Marvel Animated Characters

The Disney Magic Timer App by Oral-B is designed to help parents effortlessly extend brushing time for their kids. By bringing to life Disney and Marvel characters featured on the Oral-B and Crest Pro-Health Stages products, the app encourages children to brush. Kids are challenged to complete two minutes of brushing and each time they brush, Disney and Marvel character images are revealed. Kids have the opportunity to unlock 16 custom animations and 1,600 rewards, ensuring the app maintains its novelty and transforming the act of brushing into a game. The app is set for a 21-day cycle, to help establish good habits.
Procter & Gamble, an emerging leader in digital programming for tooth-brushing motivation, conducted a brushing study, which revealed 9 out of 10 kids brush longer when brushing with the Disney Magic Timer App by Oral-B.
The Disney Magic Timer App by Oral-B is FREE and works with any Oral-B or Crest Pro-Health Stages products. The two-minute timer app can be downloaded via the Apple App Store on iTunes and on Google Play.
Oral-B has also partnered with Olympic Gold Medalist and mother of two, Dominque Moceanu, to raise awareness about the importance of children's oral care and garner excitement around the launch of the new app. Oral-B and Moceanu are asking parents to share stories via pictures and videos on Instagram about the craziest steps they have taken or would take to get their children to brush their teeth.
"As a mom, I know how impossible it can be to instill healthy oral care habits in my kids" said Moceanu. "I have gone to great lengths including singing our ABC's and tickling my children to get them to brush. That is why I am so excited to partner with Oral-B and use the new app with my children."
To celebrate the new app, Oral-B and Disney are excited to announce the launch of the Disney Magical Time in NYC Sweepstakes.

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia ~ Donald Duck

Donald Duck celebrated his 79th birthday Sunday during the last day of Star Wars Weekends 2013. I hope it was a stellar celebration for him!

Donald is our families favorite character. He appeals to the young and old alike. Everyone seems to "get" his irascible personality and loves it when he flies off the handle at just about everything. Then there are his sweet moments when he oozes cuddly cuteness. We just can't seem to get enough of Donald.

So much so that on one of our many adventures to Walt Disney World in the early 90's we spent the better part of a weekend trying to find him for a meet and greet. That was long before Kenny the Pirate had his awesome character finding site and app. We finally did track Donald down in Duckburg. Yes, I know how obvious that should have been but in those days characters walked the parks and only a few had official meet and greets. If you didn't happen upon your favorite characters you would miss them.

You can find him these days in his finest festive fiesta attire greeting guests in the Mexico Pavilion. He has a nice little shady spot right next to the Mexico Pavilion and if it's raining don't fret, Donald moves inside to meet and greet guests.

Did you know these 5 fast fun facts?

  • Donald Duck's character was created in 1934 at Walt Disney Productions.
  • Donald is known for his distinctive voice which was created by Clarence Nash, who performed the role for 50 years.
  • Along with his friend Mickey, Donald is one of the most popular Disney characters and was included in TV Guide's list of the 50 greatest cartoon characters of all time in 2002.
  • Donald's first appearance was in The Wise Little Hen (1934), but it was his second appearance in Orphan's Benefit which introduced him as a temperamental mischievous character we know today.
  • He has appeared in more films than any other Disney character, listed as appearing in approximately 178 theatrical films compared to Mickey Mouse's 137, and is the fifth most published comic book character in the world after Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and Wolverine.

Weekly Look Back and Forward

Keep Moving Forward ~ Focused on the Magic.com
Hi there Disney friends! It's time for our weekly recap here at Focused on the Magic. You may have noticed the lack of weekly reviews for the past few weeks. It was tough getting blog posts written much less published while in Disney.
Somehow the WiFi in both resorts, Saratoga Springs and Animal Kingdom Lodge wasn't cooperating with me. I'm sure it was due to my technological shortcomings. We were having a blast! There were so many fun events each day during Celebrating30 with WDWCelebrations (lots of pictures from the weekend are here) and tasting our way around The Food & Wine Festival during it's opening, oh my! I'll be posting about them in detail along with my wonderful experience at The Disney Moms Panel Fan Luncheon.

Let's take a look back now and at our posts and a few from around the Disney Community that you may have missed.

Imagineers Add Character to Belle's Village in New Fantasyland

New Fantasyland Imagineers are adding more interesting details to Belle's Village. Thanks to our InsidEARS Disneyland Community Manager Kelly for sharing this news article with us.
This week, our “All in the Details” post is taking on a video twist thanks to our friends at the Disney Parks Blog and Walt Disney Imagineering, who recently installed the centerpiece of Belle’s Village – an elaborate bronze statue of Gaston and his sidekick, Lefou.
As Imagineers Ted Robledo and Chris Kelly explain here, the statue’s design of Gaston and Lefou juggling leaky barrels and mugs was inspired by both Gaston’s boisterous temperament and the fountain Belle visits early in the film as she is reading. Ted and Chris also walk us through the detailed process it takes to create such an elaborate bronze statue – from building a clay maquette to choosing specific shades of bronze for the piece.

For reference, the fountain sits in the center of Belle’s Village in New Fantasyland. The building that appears behind the fountain is Gaston’s Tavern, while the structure directly across is Bonjour! Village Gifts. And as we shared last week, each of these experiences will grand open December 6 (with general previews beginning November 19).

Are you excited to see the new Fantasyland?
