Dreaming of a Disney Christmas

Personalized Mickey Mouse

While I was visiting with my friends over at Disney Parks InsidEARS I read about a new in-room celebration that Disney Floral & Gifts has created called “Dreaming of a Disney Christmas,” just in time for the holidays and coincidentally the theme for this week.

It's Disney magic!

When you walk into your Disney Resort room, you enter a personalized surprise which feels as if Mickey and Minnie set it up for you and your family.
Jean Volante, Manager of Dream Making, Disney Floral & Gifts/DEG, gives Disney Parks Blog a peek into some of the goodies you can enjoy with this new in-room celebration.

What’s your most memorable childhood Christmas? For each of us, the memories are different, but they all have one thing in common. Someone made us feel special and created an amazing experience that has lasted our lifetime. And now, because of that, we want to make our loved ones feel special and create wonderful memories for them. And why do we do it? It’s all about their smile, their reaction, their excitement… It’s just the best, isn’t it? So if you’re coming to the Walt Disney World Resort this holiday and looking for a new memory-making Disney experience, check this out. It’s a new in-room celebration from Disney Floral & Gifts called “Dreaming of a Disney Christmas,” which feels as if Mickey and Minnie set up a personalized holiday surprise for you and your family in the comfort of your resort room.
Imagine walking up to your resort room door to discover this banner, featuring a holiday wreath with your family name on it. Something magical took place while you were out!
Personalized Disney Banner
-Then, once you step inside your room, it’s clear that Mickey and Minnie created a personalized surprise just for you. There are glowing luminaries, there’s a large present from Mickey with special gifts and…

…there’s a gift from Minnie featuring a “Disney kiss goodnight” for the family. Take a close look at the copy on the pillow…and did I mention there’s lots of opportunity for personalization, too?

Personalized Disney Pillowcase

There’s also the Toon Town Times newspaper, featuring the story of your arrival for the holidays, along with a letter from our “first Family” welcoming you home. Speaking of home, Minnie Mouse also left you a cookie decorating kit to trim some of her delicious goodies while in your room.

Personalized Disney Newspaper

Is there more? Glad you asked. Check out the back-of-the-door banner – it’s a holiday tree with one-of-a-kind ornaments…

Personalized Disney Back of Door Tree

…all to create a one-of-a-kind memory while you’re here at the Resort! But the best part? When you go home, you can take it all with you.

So check it out. To learn more, visit our website, DisneyFlorist.com, or call a Dream Maker at 407-WDW-GIFT. It’s a magical holiday memory for the entire family to experience and cherish for years to come.

Imagineers Add Character to Belle's Village in New Fantasyland

New Fantasyland Imagineers are adding more interesting details to Belle's Village. Thanks to our InsidEARS Disneyland Community Manager Kelly for sharing this news article with us.
This week, our “All in the Details” post is taking on a video twist thanks to our friends at the Disney Parks Blog and Walt Disney Imagineering, who recently installed the centerpiece of Belle’s Village – an elaborate bronze statue of Gaston and his sidekick, Lefou.
As Imagineers Ted Robledo and Chris Kelly explain here, the statue’s design of Gaston and Lefou juggling leaky barrels and mugs was inspired by both Gaston’s boisterous temperament and the fountain Belle visits early in the film as she is reading. Ted and Chris also walk us through the detailed process it takes to create such an elaborate bronze statue – from building a clay maquette to choosing specific shades of bronze for the piece.

For reference, the fountain sits in the center of Belle’s Village in New Fantasyland. The building that appears behind the fountain is Gaston’s Tavern, while the structure directly across is Bonjour! Village Gifts. And as we shared last week, each of these experiences will grand open December 6 (with general previews beginning November 19).

Are you excited to see the new Fantasyland?

A Look Inside Maurice's Cottage in Fantasyland

Excitement is building and so are the Imagineers over in the new Fantasyland expansion. Maurice's Cottage is in it's final stages of development and we have a video of it. I'm still hopeful that a part of it will be open for our trip in October. A girl can dream...
Thanks to InsidEARS Disneyland Community Manager Kelly for sharing this news article with us.

We’ve hinted before on InsidEARS and the Disney Parks Blog that Enchanted Tales with Belle, in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park, will be no ordinary character greeting. Today, we are sharing more details about this special experience. As you’ll see from the video below – provided by Walt Disney Imagineering – the goal of this attraction is not just to give you a place to meet a Disney character, but to completely transport you into the world of “Beauty and The Beast.”

The journey begins at Maurice’s Cottage, where they’ll walk through the whimsical garden and find inventions created by Belle’s tinkerer father, Maurice. Inside are books, pictures and other symbols that define the home of Belle and Maurice and their lives there, including leftover gadgets and artifacts from experiments gone awry. But guests also will see a mirror that magically becomes a portal into Beast’s Castle…
What are you most looking forward to in the new Fantasyland?

A Look at Prince Eric's Castle In New Fantasyland

There's been a great deal of excitement and anticipation in the air over the new Fantasyland expansion for awhile. Every time I see a new picture posted I get even more excited and hopeful that maybe some of it will open up in time for our trip and we'll get to experience it.

Things are really taking shape now. When I saw the latest picture of Prince Eric's Castle it became more of a reality and less of a dream. This castle is breathtaking!

Thanks to InsidEARS Disneyland Community Manager Kelly for sharing this news article with us.
Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is adding two Disney castles to the park – Beast’s Castle, which houses Be Our Guest Restaurant, and the one pictured below, Prince Eric’s Castle, which tops off the Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid attraction.

Here’s the first complete look at Prince Eric’s castle!

Just like Beast’s Castle, Prince Eric’s Castle uses the forced perspective technique for which WDI is famous to make the structure appear much larger in size than it is in reality.
Forced perspective, which has been used since Walt Disney oversaw the construction of Disneyland park in the 1950s, is sort of an optical illusion that uses architectural scale to “trick” the eye into believing a building towers above you, when it’s really not as tall as you’d think.
What are you looking forward to most in the new Fantasyland expansion?

Disney Park News: Brave - The Highland Games Tournament at Epcot

Starting today there is a new activity at Epcot called, Brave-The Highland Games Tournament. You'll have to hurry over if you want to play, it runs from June 1- July 8th. Here's our Disney Parks InsidEARS Community Manager, Marissa to tell us all about it:

Last week, Disney Parks Blog Author Shawn Slater shared a look at the new Merida meet-and-greet experience that’s already begun at Magic Kingdom Park. But I’m happy to announce that Magic Kingdom is not the only one of the Disney Parks that’s getting in on the fun of the new Disney•Pixar film, “Brave.”
From June 1-July 8, Epcot will serve as the setting for Brave – The Highland Games Tournament, a kid-focused offering that will include games like Mini Caber Toss, Cake Toss, Haggis Flip and archery. There will also be a kids’ playground with free enhanced wireless – which is great for parents who can’t share cute photos of their kids on Twitter and Facebook fast enough!
Brave – The Highland Games Tournament will take place on the Rose Walk (right where Future World blends into World Showcase), from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., daily. Park admission is required.
In addition Marissa adds " I checked with my friends at Epcot and they said the playground will have similar restrictions to the Flower & Garden playground (ages 2-5 for one set, 5-12 for the other). When it comes to the games any age can participate, just keep in mind that some of the younger Guests may need some assistance from Cast Members."

Doesn't that sound like such a fun activity? I wish I could see it but I won't be in Epcot during those dates. If you check it out please come back and tell us what you think. Don't forget to snap a few pictures, we love pictures!

Hope you are having a Disney Day!

The Best Hamburgers in The Parks!

Our family has enjoyed some fabulous burgers in the Disney Parks. The burgers I prepare at home are a far cry from a good Park burger, but I try and I'm always learning.

I learned a few new hamburger factoids from our Disney Parks InsidEARS Community Managers, Marissa and Kelly.

Let's see what they are up to and get the latest scoop in their own words.

At Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort there are many different ways to show your burger appreciation, from the classic cheeseburger to the decadent lobster-topped Grand Floridian Burger. As your Disney Parks InsidEARS Community Managers, we’ve done our research (and plenty of taste-testing) and narrowed down some of our favorite burger picks from both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Disneyland Resort
Hungry Bear Restaurant, Critter Country, Disneyland park: Pioneer Chili Cheeseburger – Angus 1/3 lb. chuck burger with home-style chili, cheese and a hand-battered onion ring. Served with sweet potato fries or zesty slaw.
Veggie burger available upon request
Crossroads at House of Blues, Downtown Disney District: Juicy Lucy – Certified Angus beef and applewood bacon patty stuffed with cheese, topped with crispy pickled jalapenos and chipotle mayo on a potato bun. Served with fries and a trio of dipping sauces.
Taste Pilot’s Grill, Condor Flats, Disney California Adventure park: Wild Bleu Yonder Burger – This burger is basted with tangy steak sauce and topped with bleu cheese crumbles. Served with a tangy vegetable salad or Flyby Fries
. (Veggie burger available upon request.)
Uva Bar and Café, Downtown Disney District: Lamb burger – A twist on the traditional hamburger, this lamb burger is topped with piquillo peppers, spicy feta, arugula, lemon dill aioli, pickled red onion, all on a brioche bun. Served with Uva Fries.
Tangaroa Terrace, Disneyland Hotel: Angus ⅓-lb. Hawaiian Cheeseburger – Ground Angus burger with Teriyaki Sauce, fresh grilled pineapple, havarti cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato on a multigrain bun with choice of Sweet Potato Fries or Green Papaya Slaw.

Walt Disney World Resort
Grand Floridian Cafe, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa: Grand Floridian Burger – Angus chuck burger, butter-poached Lobster with red onion marmalade, crispy prosciutto and arugula on a brioche bun with chips.
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom: This quick service location is perfect for the burger-on-the-go. And with a stocked toppings bar, each trip you can create your own signature burger. Toppings include: lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, relish, green peppers, mushrooms, grilled onions, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, and cheese sauce
Burgers are also served with apple slices or french fries.
Sci-Fi Dine In, Disney’s Hollywood Studios: The All American Picnic Burger – Flame broiled Angus burger patty topped with grilled hot dog, sauerkraut, and sauteed onions, drizzled with ketchup, mustard and crowned with a pickle spear. Served with a choice of cucumber salad or french fries.
Sci-Fi Dine In, Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Vegetable Burger – A perfect non-meat option, this vegetable patty is topped with cucumber planks, vine-ripened tomatoes, grilled red onions, peppery arugula, and pickle spear drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Served with a choice of cucumber salad or sweet potato fries
ABC Commissary, Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Surf ‘n Turf Burger – The Cheddar cheeseburger is topped with fried shrimp, a sweet onion ring, tomato, pickle, lettuce and their own special sauce.

Now, I'm hungry for a hamburger! So what's your favorite burger in The Parks? I like it simple. My favorite is the Angus Beef Burger at the Grand Floridian Cafe with a tomato slice and lettuce. Oh and maybe a pickle:)

Disney World News: Easter Egg Display at The Grand Floridian

The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is hosting an "egg-tra" special Easter egg display

Easter is celebrated in a number of ways at Walt Disney World Resort, but this year a new celebration is taking place at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
In fact, you might even say this is an “eggs-elent” way to celebrate.

This year, the lobby of the Grand Floridian will feature its first large-scale Easter egg display. But these eggs aren’t like the ones you might hide in your backyard. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa pastry chefs hand-decorated these edible (chocolate!) Easter eggs into quite “eggs-eptional” works of art.

Weekly Review 4/7

Welcome Disney friends to the 4/7 edition of Focused on the Magic's week in review!

I'd like to start off by wishing you all a very Happy Easter Sunday and a very Happy Passover which starts today!!
It's been a busy week for us getting ready for Easter. The eggs are colored, baskets are filled (shhh) and the yard well, it's getting there. The forsythia is in full bloom along with tulips and daffodils. Spring bunnies can be seen playing in the grass and a few frogs are in the ponds. Spring is in the air!
