Saturday Shorts ~ All New #Disney "Mickey Mouse" Cartoon Shorts for iPhone and iPad

Continuing along in our Saturday Shorts Series we're sharing not only a fun short but a Mickey media alert (see below) that is great news for "Mickey Mouse" cartoon lovers.

A new generation of Mickey Mouse cartoons for viewers of all ages has been launched via the new FREE Mickey Video App for iOS , the Disney Channel and Disney.com. I have the app and will be doing a full review but for now all I can say is, This is free!

Each of the new cartoons features Mickey in a different location including Santa Monica, New York, Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Venice and the Alps, facing a fun dilemma similar to the cartoons gags of the 50's. Mickey is joined by his pals, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto.

The first four episodes, including “Croissant de Triomphe” set in Paris and “No Service” set in Santa Monica are live now. My favorite is the New York Weenie -- Mickey chases an illusive hot dog through New York's Central Park, one of my favorite places. Rated: TV-G --

Saturday Shorts~ GNOMEO & JULIET

This week we are focusing on GNOMEO & JULIET (2011) the little garden gnome romantic comedy film based...sort of based on William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. The film is directed by Kelly Asbury with main character voice actors James McAvoy and Emily Blunt.

There wasn't much Disney board buzz about it when this came out in theaters or at least I didn't see a lot of it.

This little movie got me the minute I heard that the music was from Sir Elton John. I knew then I'd put it on my must-see list.  When a movie comes out on DVD that I know "the boys" will pass on for reasons a mother will never understand,  I put a request in with our local library. We have Netflix, Redbox and had a Blockbuster that we use but I feel we should support our local libraries whenever we can. Besides, I love going to the library and picking up a good read at the same time:) So I dashed down to the library when my request for Gnomeo & Juliet came in.
As I often do I watched it from the discomfort of my treadmill. I get some exercise and the time goes by quickly..if the movie is good. This was the perfect treadmilling movie running 84 minutes and the "G" entertainment value was perfect too. I loved that an adult could appreciate some of the double entendres while still keeping with the storyline for children. I'm not going to review it fully here. I'll just say you can't go wrong with this DVD. It's not one of the best "G" movies I can think of but you will be entertained. There were plenty of laughs (run, run, run) and upbeat music (skip, skip). There were lovely little gnome moments too (walking, walking). All in all the story was a wonderful surprise. I think my favorite character was Lady Blueberry voiced by Maggie Smith and my favorite song was “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” (a duet with Kiki Dee). There were plenty of terrific songs throughout.

As promised a little trailer short:

If you just love the music after seeing the movie. Check out the soundtrack:

Saturday Shorts ~ Mission Space

Today we're focusing once again on space. From the real life adventures aboard the NASA space shuttle, STS-135 to a ride on Epcot's Mission Space

Our first clip is Sir Paul McCartney waking the crew of the space shuttle. I know celebrities do it all the time and it's prerecorded but to me it's still very exciting. It's also great to see Sir Paul do what he does best!

Saturday Shorts ~ Donald Duck's 61st Birthday Parade

Each week we focus on a short video or two or three relating to an event that occurred during the week. Well, this week I celebrated a birthday! The past three years I've celebrated my birthday in Walt Disney World partying to all hours in the Magic Kingdom. Not this year though. I was back home here in NJ. Fortunately, I was surrounded (sounds like a roundup) by my loving family and friends. In honor of my birthday here is a little video of Donald Duck's 61st Birthday Parade in Disneyland.
I love how Winnie The Pooh looks. He's aged well:)

Donald celebrates with his nephews in their own unique way in the next cartoon!
