Wordless Wednesday | Goofy Day!

Welcome to The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop where each week we gather together and share our Disney vacation photos and hop from blog to blog. Want to link up your #DisneySide pictures? Look no further than the bottom of this post.

Today we are celebrating Goofy Day!
Mickey's whacky pal Goofy first appeared in Mickey's Revue on May 25, 1932, but it wasn't until 1934 that he was named Goofy.
One of my favorite close encounters is with The Great Goofini in Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Magic Kingdom.
There you can meet The Astounding Donaldo, The Great Goofini, Minnie Magnifique and Madame Daisy Fortuna. Two separate lines form to meet the stars. One for Daisy and Minnie and the other is for Donald and Goofy. It's a spacious themed meet and greet with plenty of room for Goofini to ham it up for the cameras.

Happy Birthday, Goofy!! ah-hyuck! hoo hoo hoo hoo!

One of my favorite Disney characters, Goofy is celebrating his birthday today. Here he is as the Great Goofini under the Big Top in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

Happy Birthday, Goofy!! ah-hyuck! hoo hoo hoo hoo!

Goofy as the Great Goofini

Goofy first appeared in Mickey's Revue in 1932. Golly, that was a long time ago. He didn't get the name Goofy until 1934 when he became a regular member of the gang.

Now it's time to link up your Disney photos and hop with us.

Bill Farmer, Voice of Goofy, Gives “InsidEAR” Look at Goofy’s Sky School Attraction

Happy Father's Day!
This week we shared a tribute to the Disney Dads in our Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop posts. I posted a photo montage of my dear husband Paul, who in real life is a mild mannered corporate lawyer but when he's in the Disney Parks he breaks out his Goofy side. Check it out.

Another Disney Dad you may be more familiar with is Goofy, who's voice is that of Disney Legend Bill Farmer for the past 25 years. Garsh!
Disney InsidEARS caught up with the voice of Goofy, Disney Legend Bill Farmer, to get his take on the reimagined attraction, Goofy's Sky School in Disneyland.

Have you experienced Goofy's Sky School?  What did you think? It's going on my Disneyland Bucket List.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are having a magical day

Our Favorite Restaurants Outside the Parks

The Garden Grove at The Swan and Dolphin Resort
Garden Grove
When it comes to dining outside of our usual Walt Disney World favorite locations my first choice is The Garden Grove Restaurant located in the Swan & Dolphin Resort Hotel.
I've dined at the Garden Grove quite a few times with my husband and two sons, with just one son and as a large multi-generational family group.

I have never had a problem getting a last minute Advanced Dining Reservation ( ADR), even during the busiest of times, they have always found openings for us. It is my "go to" dining spot when the parks are crowded for festivals or holidays or when I haven't an ADR in my plan at all. It's so difficult to plan where we are going to have dinner months in advance. I like knowing I can go here at almost the last minute and have a wonderful dining experience.
Goofy at the Garden Grove The decor is reminiscent of a tranquil Central Park with a paper lantern decorated 25 foot oak tree as the focal point of the large circular dining room surrounded by tremendous windows. At night the lights in the tree twinkle creating a lovely atmosphere. It is casual table service dining experience. The food is great and the servers are always very attentive and friendly.

The Garden Grove manages to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters in our family with nightly themed all-you-can-eat dinner buffets.
  • Friday night the theme is called "Seafood Sensation" with seafood offerings from lobster to shrimp. There is even beef on the menu which is a welcome sight for my husband who doesn't care for seafood. The Garden Grove prides itself in being gluten free too but you will have to mention any other dietary restrictions to your server. They are very accomodating. I find there is always some great choices for my lactose free son.
  • Sunday, Monday and Wednesday the theme is "Southern Barbeque". Examples of dinner offerings are Smoked Beef Brisket to North Carolina Pulled Pork. I'm not a big barbeque person and even I enjoy those nights.
  • Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday is "Mediterranean Night" and my favorite menu with Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken, Beef Bourguignon and Mrs Cibs Meatballs to name a few.

Character Fun Day Sunday ~ Favorite Classic Characters

Today I'm joining my friend Jess from Magic, Memories and Mayhem in a new hop,  The Character Fun Day Sunday Blog Hop. The theme this week is My Favorite Character.

Choosing a favorite character for me is a lot like choosing my favorite dessert.
I love them all!

After giving it some thought I decided to break my choice down to the classic characters. When we're visiting Walt Disney World the classic characters are always my favorites to see.
Mickey Mouse is first on my favorites list followed closely by Donald Duck Goofy and Mickey's sweetheart Minnie.
Here they all are performing in the Dream Along With Mickey, musical show held at the Castle Court Stage.
It's a fun filled magical show as “happily ever after” comes alive before your very eyes!

Donald the dream skeptic will take some convincing.

If you didn't get here from the hop then head on over and check out everyone else's favorite Disney characters.

Destination Disney: My Favorite Disney Characters

It's time for another Disney meme. The topic this week is our
Top 9 Disney Characters
It was tough narrowing my selection down to just 9 from all the Disney legendary characters. I have so many favorites from Disney TV, movies, parks and books that I needed to break it down. Oh the decisions!

After much thought, (think Pooh and his thoughtful spot) I decided I better stick with just characters I've met and interacted with in Walt Disney World. Some meet and greets are just that, you meet the character get their autograph take your picture and go. Other characters really connect and interact with guests making the experience even more magical.
Also, putting a number on it was a challenge. I finally had to go with 10 instead of just 9, consider it a Disney 9 "plus". You know how Disney always "pluses" everything.
