Palo Chocolate Soufflé Recipe

Today's Foodie Fare find is a recipe from Palo the Disney Cruise Line signature dining experience. Dining at Palo is reserved exclusively for adults. Every romantic dinner, exquisite champagne brunch and elegant afternoon high tea provides unsurpassed service and inspired Northern Italian cuisine.

This is one cruise experience you don't want to miss. I always make ADRs for date night on the high seas at Palo. Sometimes more than one night too;)
The dessert menu includes this signature chocolate soufflé. It's Dreamy, Magical & Wonderful!

Palo Chocolate Soufflé Recipe

(Makes 6 Servings)

Ingredients You'll Need:

3 tablespoons butter, plus more for greasing the soufflé cups
6 tablespoons sugar, plus more for dusting the soufflé cups
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons *Dutch-processed cocoa
2 ounces (2/3 cups) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, melted
4 eggs, separated

any style ramekin will do as soufflé cups
Preparation
1.        Preheat oven to 350. Set a full kettle of water on to boil.

2.        Butter six 4-ounce soufflé cups and coat with sugar, set aside.
3.        Bring milk to boil in a small saucepan. Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cocoa to the butter and beat with a whisk until it has a smooth, paste-like consistency. Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute.
4.        Slowly add hot milk, whisking until smooth, then blend in melted chocolate. Let cool for 5 minutes, then stir egg yolks.
5.       Beat egg whites in separate bowl until frothy.  Slowly add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time until glossy peaks form. Stir a heaping spoonful of egg whites into the chocolate, then fold in the remaining whites just until combined.
6.        Pour the batter into prepared soufflé cups.  Place cups in a large baking dish and add enough boiling water to reach halfway up the sides of the soufflé cups.
7.        Bake for 20 minutes. Serve immediately with warm vanilla sauce.

Palo Vanilla Sauce for Soufflé
1.        Bring 1 1/4 cups heavy cream and 1/4 vanilla bean (split lengthwise) to a low boil in saucepan over medium heat.
2.        Combine 3 tablespoons sugar and 2 small egg yolks.
3.        Add 2 spoonfuls of boiling cream to egg mixture and stir well, then pour back into the remaining cream and continue to cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 3 to 4 minutes.

*More info than you need to know
Dutch- processed cocoa was developed in the 19th century. It is chocolate that has been treated to modify it's color and give it a milder smoother taste compared to natural cocoa. It is used in ice cream, hot cocoa and baking. Dutch chocolate does not react with baking soda. It should be used in recipes that require baking powder.

Disney After Dark

This month's topic of discussion is Your Favorite Thing to Do in Disney After Dark, besides the Fireworks.

Here are a few of our favorite things we enjoy doing after dark in Disney.

In the parks:
The parks are even more magical at night and in the summer months the temperatures are much more comfortable. The Magic Kingdom parades are always more exciting and beautiful to watch at night. I like to watch the last parades at the hub in front of the castle.

Blogging with Integrity

This week's Babes in Disneyland Blog Hop topic is integrity. Along with the topic Lisa has asked us to read and consider taking a blogging pledge of integrity which she as one of  The Three Disneyland Moms has created. You can read it here and take the pledge.

In my blog I share my pics, tips and personal travel experiences. I have no hidden agenda, no sponsors or anything to sell. I write or take pics of those things I find interesting, news worthy or entertaining to me that relate to Disney. I hope that my readers are entertained or enlightened or both. I would also hope that I've never offended anyone or imposed my thoughts and ideas in an offensive manner. If I have I sincerely apologize. If I do in the future, please go gently me on me. I'm old;)  I've been around the Disney online community since 1994. In all that time I've come across very few instances where Disney fan board members, bloggers or webmasters behaved in a manner without integrity.  Even in those rare situations differences were discretely worked out in true "Disney" spirit.
We as bloggers may not directly represent the Disney corporation, but we are hosts of the Disney culture and the Disney online community. In that sense, I feel we have a responsibility in our blogging actions to behave with the utmost integrity and respect for Disney. Obviously, I gladly signed the pledge. It reaffirms what we all know is right and is a welcome reminder to do the right thing.
Always let your conscience be your guide

Did you sign the pledge? What do you think?

Dreamy Strawberry Cheesecake Recipe

The Enchanted Garden on the Disney Dream is a whimsical, casual restaurant inspired by French gardens and featuring a dining environment that transforms from day to night. Custom glass “flower” light fixtures, ornamental light posts and a charming terrace fountain add enchantment to the room.

Dining at The Enchanted Garden is part of the rotational dining experience on the Disney Dream. The Disney Cruise Line originated the rotational dining concept. Guests experience a different restaurant for dinner each night, the same servers accompany them, providing friendly, familiar, personalized service.

Today's Foodie Fare find is a recipe for one of the dessert offerings from The Disney Dream's Enchanted Garden menu, a delicious classic Strawberry Cheesecake
