Almost Wordless Wednesday ~ Riding Up Front on the Epcot Monorail

Welcome to The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic where each week we gather with other Disney Bloggers to link up and share our Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday Disney related picture posts.
This week's theme is Transportation
In celebration on the release of Disney's Planes I thought it would be fun to share our favorite forms of Disney transportation. Our favorite form of Disney transportation is the monorail. We enjoyed riding up front and my boys would always see how many times in a vacation they could do it.

The other game we played was how many different colored monorails we could ride in one trip.
The last time I rode up front was Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 7:28:51 PM and I was with my oldest son. These pictures are from that last ride on the Coral Epcot Monorail. It was a wonderful experience and a fun family tradition.

Riding Up Front on the Epcot Monorail

On July 5, 2009 there was a terrible tragic and fatal collision between two monorails that led to the change in riders rules. No one is permitted to ride up front anymore.

Focused on the Magic
Welcome to another edition of the The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic.com where each week Disney Bloggers hop, link up and share their Disney Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday Disney related picture posts.

It's a fun blog hop for sharing your Disney memories and captures. There's a theme each week that you can follow if you wish. Facebook picture, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, Flickr or video posts are all welcome.

This week's theme is Disney transportation. All the things that get us to wherever it is we are going or takes us around and right back to where we started. I chose a picture of one of my favorite forms of transportation in the Magic Kingdom, the horse drawn trolley.

Did you know that the trolley horses wear special plastic horse shoes to protect their feet and to prevent wear and tear on the street? Yea, I didn't know that either till I heard it on Lou Mongello's Audio Guide to Walt Disney World-Main Street CD. It's filled with all sorts of great trivia.

Another favorite form of transportation is the monorail. I can't wait to take our next ride in September.
What's your favorite form of Disney transportation?

Friday

Photo Flashback - Kodachrome Day

It's Photo Flashback Friday!
Time to once again dig through our old Disney pictures for a photo flashback. Today's pictures of the monorail where taken during The Year of a Million Dreams which began October 1, 2006 and ran through 2008. It was a great time for me as I made many trips to Walt Disney World with my family and solo.

I chose this picture today to pay homage to Kodak, who has sadly closed their doors. It's a sign of the times we live in. They just couldn't make the leap into the digital age. Lesson to us all, to keep moving forward while remembering the past.
Kodachrome was the premier film to use in my early days of photography. Sharp and full of color it was perfect on a Kodachrome Day
Here's an example of a Kodachrome Day in Disney World. Soft billowy clouds, blue sky and vibrant colors throughout.

Wordless Wednesday ~ Monorail Moments

Come along and join the fun! Link up your Disney Almost Wordless or Wordless Wednesday posts, make new Disney friends, visit with old friends, see some great pics at
with me, Debs Dis @ Focused on the Magic

Your choice for this week's theme is Monorails!

Did you ever have a Monorail Moment? It happens to me all the time. I'll be walking through Epcot on my way to an attraction, ADR or just deep in conversation when suddenly I look up, stop in my tracks and just watch as the monorail goes by. If I think quickly enough I'll capture the moment with my camera as I did here but most times I just watch.
Have you had a monorail moment?

Monday

Nightly Monorail Schedule Change

Starting today, July 11, 2011 there are a few changes in the monorail operating hours. The Epcot Monorail will only run one hour after the regular park closing time. Currently it runs 1 1/2 hours after park closing. Beginning August 1,2011 the Magic Kingdom Monorail will run one hour after regular park closing time. It now runs 2 hours after park closing. There will be additional buses provided. Watercraft schedules will not change. There will be no monorail service after the one hour regular closing during Evening Extra Magic Hours (EMH) in either park.

Here's a little transportation tip for ya'

If you're ever stranded at the end of the night with your car parked in another park, take a bus to the TTC and ask a bus driver there for a ride to your car. Disney plans for everything:D

Wordless Wednesday ~ World Showcase Message

Nautical flowerbed flags sweep around the shores of East and West Lakes leaving a coded message for guests during The Flower & Garden Festival. I'm anxious to find out what this years World Showcase flower message will be.
