Hidden Mickey - New Fantasyland

Our Hidden Mickey this week can be found in the stroller parking area just outside of the Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World.
Do you see him? I've outlined it for you. This is a tough one to spot and you may have parked your stroller in front of it or even sat on the wall without noticing it. I know I would have totally missed this one if the fabulous Cast Member, Alli hadn't pointed it out to me one bright sunny day.
With a splash of water to add contrast the outline of the Hidden Mickey is revealed.

#DisneySide Hidden Mickey Hunting & Tiggerific Trivia

You don't really have to hunt to find the brass Hidden Mickeys adorning the elaborate bridles and halters of the Main Street Transportation Horse Drawn Trolley. They are easy to spot in the pictures above.

Fun Disney Horsey facts:

  • The horses chosen for this important job are all geldings (neutered males).
  • They are Belgians and Percherons which are breeds known for their mild temperament and strength.
  • The Belgians are from Belgium, and the Percherons are a Northwest section of France called La Perche.
  • Disney uses Lippizans in weddings, the Christmas Parade and to pull Cinderella's coach.
  • The horses work four hours a day, four days a week.
  • Plastic horseshoes are worn by the horses.
  • The Transportation Trolley fully loaded weighs about 4000 lbs.
  • The steel tracks in the street help guide the trolley and ease the burden on the horses.
  • At night the horses are housed at the Tri-Circle-D Farm at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

My Disney Side: Hidden Mickey Hunting

My Disney Side: Contemporary Resort Hidden Mickey Hunting

For this series of blog posts I am looking back at some of the ways I've shown my #DisneySide over the years. Hidden Mickey hunting has been part of our family trips since the early 90's.

I first started hunting for them when I was part of a great online discussion group called Rec.Arts.Disney.Parks or RADP. We would discuss Hidden Mickeys and their location in the group and then go try to find them in the parks.

Hunting for Hidden Mickeys was an extra magical diversion for my then very young son, while standing in lines waiting for attractions or rides. Sometimes I'd bring a list to refer to. Most times we'd wing it and just try to discover them ourselves. After the trip we'd confirm our sightings or report new ones to the group.

Hidden Mickey Hunting: The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights

Our Hidden Mickeys this week are from The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights on the Streets of America at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It's an amazing seasonal display featuring millions of glittering lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music. Think Manheim Steamroller. You can also expect a Florida faux snow to fall and a flurry of Hidden Mickeys some of which are pictured below. It's a fun time hunting with some being very obvious and other  more hidden. We stopped counting at 13.

Hidden Mickey Monday Magic

Our Hidden Mickeys this week are a few of the illusive ones we've experienced at Walt Disney World. Hidden in a table arrangement in Morocco with Steve Barrett, the author and official Hidden Mickey Guy himself. A pumpkin earning it's ears at Living with the Land. A water painted smiling Mickey greeting guests at the Magic Kingdom. Finally a window display at the Beach Club Resort.

Our Hidden Mickey this week is found in Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. As you walk along the Maharaja Jungle Trek in the Asia section look for a mural depicting the wealthy rajah Bhinma Disampati hunting with a bow and arrow. Notice his Mickey earring?Maharaja Jungle Trek Hidden Mickey

Favorite Hidden Mickeys

Welcome and enjoy the ride as we share with you our favorite Hidden Mickeys.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the phrase “Hidden Mickey”, I'll let you in on it. Everyone else, bear with me or skip this part.

A "Hidden Mickey" is a Mickey Mouse shape that has been discreetly placed throughout the Disney Parks, Resorts, Disney Cruise Line and movies by clever Imagineers, Crew Members and Cast Members.
Hidden Mickey's come in many forms and are made of many different materials. They can be a complete Mickey Mouse profiles (I never seem to find these) or classic outlines of his head and ears. They are a lot of fun to look!--
