Food and Wine Festival Wordless Wednesday

Hi over there!
Welcome to the latest edition of The Wordless and Almost Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic.com where each week we get together to blog hop, link up and share our Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday, travel related picture posts.

Last year the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival  was a gastronomical good time. 2017 looks like it will be even better (if that's possible) because it is also Epcot's 35th Anniversary Celebration on Oct. 1st. I am booked and ready. I can't wait!
We had so much fun sipping and tasting our way around the World Showcase, rocking out to the concerts and learning at the seminars. Remy joined us in France as our trip mascot last year providing giggles between bites and long queues.

"A record number of global food and wine marketplaces – 35 in all –will sizzle with new edible delights to celebrate 35 years of Epcot during the 22nd Epcot International Food & Wine Festival Aug. 31-Nov. 13, 2017. The annual Disney culinary tour of flavors will expand in 2017 for a longer-than-ever 75-day run.
Growing in scope as one of America’s top food festivals each year since 1996, the Epcot (Walt Disney World) event will run for 13 additional days of inspired sips and bites throughout the park’s World Showcase and Future World. Guests will have a chance to mix and mingle with celebrity chefs, experience hands-on culinary workshops and demonstrations at the Festival Center, and get their gourmet groove on at nightly Eat to the Beat concerts."

"Your calendar Shot" is the theme for this week.
I hope your month is off to a bang. Mine certainly is! There was a spectacular Balloon Festival last weekend that had hot air balloons flying over our house under beautiful blue skies. My garden is producing peppers and cucumbers at a rapid rate. Tomatoes are just about to come in. And I got an blogging opportunity that I couldn't pass up. More to come on that...

Wordless Wednesday | The Great Movie Ride

Hi over there!
Welcome to the latest edition of The Wordless and Almost Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic.com where each week we get together to blog hop, link up and share our #DisneySide Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday, Disney related picture posts.

Nostalgia is the theme for this week.

One of my favorite attractions since it's opening day in 1989, The Great Movie Ride inside the Chinese Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios aka Disney's MGM Studios will take it's last journey August 13, 2017.

According to Wikipedia. The Great Movie Ride directly inspired the creation of Disney's Hollywood Studios. In a Walt Disney Imagineering book, it was revealed that The Great Movie Ride was actually going to be the main attraction in a show business themed pavilion at Epcot

I have a wealth of wonderful memories wrapped up in The Great Movie Ride. It was my must do attraction each visit. I loved the theme, the story and the photographic challenge it presented me every time.
I'll add more pictures and video as I go through them. These are some shots of my favorite scenes.

Do you have a favorite scene?

A few of my favorite views.

There are so many that come to mind. Not pictured but much loved is the view from the verandah at sunset and sunrise on cruises, my sons first walk down Main Street USA or their first fireworks show, the animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge at night and in the morning while sitting on my balcony. I could go on and on.

Almost Wordless Wednesday | Pirates of the Caribbean

Hi over there!
Welcome to the latest edition of The Wordless and Almost Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic.com where each week we get together to blog hop, link up and share our #DisneySide Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday, Disney related picture posts.

Adventure is the theme for this week.

Big changes are coming to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Disneyland in California, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland. With Paris as the first park to be renovated. The scheduled reopening is later this month. I am looking forward to reading everyone's reviews.

Among the addition of new characters from the film series, the animatronic auction scene, "Take a Wench for a Bride" will be re-imagined transforming the famous flirty redheaded woman into an auctioneer inviting the locals to “surrender yer loot” at an auction.
There will be no more pirates shouting “We want the redhead!” although I think Guests will continue the tradition for years to come.

The Wordless and Almost Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop | Happy First Day Of Summer!

Hi over there!
This is the latest edition of The Wordless and Almost Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic.com where each week we get together to blog hop, link up and share our #DisneySide Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday, Disney related picture posts.

Happy first day of summer! Also known as the summer solstice, or the longest day of the year and the official start of summer for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere.
The theme or topic of this week's hop is Summertime.

In summers past I've been to Stonehenge, enjoyed the beaches of the Hamptons and Jersey Shore, boating on Great South Bay, the Long Island Sound and Jersey waters, lounging around the pool, camping, road trips, cruises, the annual balloon festival and flights to exotic and not so exotic locations. Always accompanied by lots of food, family, and fun. The most family fun trips hands down have been at Disney World and on Disney Cruises.

Summer time at the Disney Parks is hot, hot, hot!
I decided to share a few of my favorite ways we stay cool besides drinking copious amounts of water whilst spritzing ourselves with misters, hopping from shop to shop, attraction to attraction based on the air conditioning, and swimming after hours.

Who doesn't love The Yacht & Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge pools to swim away the heat?
Or zipping around on water mice by the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. And a cool frosty Blue Raspberry Goofy Glacier at Animal Kingdom.

Throughout the parks you'll discover Blaine Gibson, the multi talented sculptors works in attractions, movies and statues, including the famous "Partner's Statue".

One statue I always look for in Magic Kingdom is the "Sharing The Magic" statue. It depicts Roy O. Disney seated with Minnie on a park bench. You have to admire Blaine Gibson not only for his talent but his work ethic. This statue was delivered in 1999 when he was 81!
In my research I also learned from Gene Duncan, the Disney Parks Blog Photographer that Gibson created the statue to show Roy holding Minnie’s hand from underneath as way to show how Roy supported his brother.

Wordless Wednesday | Goofy Day!

Welcome to The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop where each week we gather together and share our Disney vacation photos and hop from blog to blog. Want to link up your #DisneySide pictures? Look no further than the bottom of this post.

Today we are celebrating Goofy Day!
Mickey's whacky pal Goofy first appeared in Mickey's Revue on May 25, 1932, but it wasn't until 1934 that he was named Goofy.
One of my favorite close encounters is with The Great Goofini in Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Magic Kingdom.
There you can meet The Astounding Donaldo, The Great Goofini, Minnie Magnifique and Madame Daisy Fortuna. Two separate lines form to meet the stars. One for Daisy and Minnie and the other is for Donald and Goofy. It's a spacious themed meet and greet with plenty of room for Goofini to ham it up for the cameras.

Happy Birthday, Goofy!! ah-hyuck! hoo hoo hoo hoo!

For this week's theme, we are getting in our Wayback Machine and going way-way back to the 1964-65 World's Fair in New York which was my one of my very first Disney attraction experiences.

I was fortunate to visit the NY Word's Fair with my grandmother, mom, and uncle. We didn't know what to expect but I thought at the time that it must be good if so many people were waiting in such a long line in the blazing August sun. Once inside the cool dark theater, it was a refreshing as it is today.
The revolving stage and Audio-Animatronics were amazing and left a big impression.

The last time I saw Carousel of Progress I was with a great group of my blogging buddies during the Type-A Parent Conference making it even more special.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort | Relaxing Wordless Wednesday

Welcome! I'm glad you stopped by for the Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop, where bloggers get together and link up their #DisneySide Wordless or Almost Wordless Wednesday posts.

Each week we have a prompt or theme. This week we are enjoying Resorts and Relaxation. With Mother's Day coming up this Sunday I am wishing all of you a most relaxing day. I hope you get to Disneyfy it. I've been very fortunate to spend a few in Walt Disney World and they were the best!

Our DVC home resort is the Boardwalk Villas but it is not our number one choice of relaxing resorts. That honor goes to The Wilderness Lodge, then The Boardwalk Villas, The Grand Floridian, Yacht Club and then my favorite but not my husbands, Animal Kingdom Lodge. Notice a trend here? We enjoy being surrounded by water.

Relaxing at Disney's Wilderness Lodge is easy. Not only are the pools and hot tubs delightful but there is a nice sandy beach and paths through the woods for running or leisurely walks. Ferries are always at the ready for a ride across the bay. What a wonderful way to get around. Renting water mice and buzzing around the bay is a must!

Here Paul is sitting by the fire enjoying some down time while I roam around the lobby snapping pictures and browsing the gift shop.

A relaxing way to end the day!

Everybody neat and pretty?

The Force Is Strong | Almost Wordless Wednesday

Welcome and thanks for stopping by The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic where each week we gather together to link up and share our #DisneySide pictures.

Today's theme is "Your May Calendar Shot" and tomorrow is May 4th, the unofficial "Star Wars Day". As I am a huge Star Wars fan, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite Star Wars moments we've enjoyed at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The fireworks force is strong this month first with a shot of Magic Kingdom fireworks.

An out of this world Galactic Spectacular Fireworks show. We were able to see but not hear except for the explosions from our balcony at Coronado Springs Resort each night.

I have lots of pictures of the new March of the First Order parade that I'll share at a later date. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. Have you seen it and what did you think?

Happy Pretzel Day! | Almost Wordless Wednesday

Welcome and thanks for stopping by The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic where each week we gather together to link up and share our #DisneySide pictures.

Today is all about Food, something that I thoroughly enjoy photographing. I don't know if it's more of a challenge to get the best shot technically or having to wait to get the shot when I am dying to just dig in. I do try to make do with a fast one take.

Today is also National Pretzel Day! Yay!  How about a Pretzel Roll? Not by itself of course. In the Canadian Kiosk, it's combined with a creamy Cheddar Cheese Soup.  Very memorable and a much needed pick me up after strolling around the World Showcase. We stopped just in time as the rain started as we were finishing up. Remy our mascot for the trip was thrilled to pose with it too.

This is a picture of the main entrance display to the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival at Walt Disney World.

Almost Wordless Wednesday | Happy Earth Day 2017!

Hey there Disney photography fans. Welcome to The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop here at Focused on the Magic.com where each week we get together to share our #DisneySide Wordless Wednesday or Almost Wordless Wednesday Disney related picture posts.

This week our theme is Disney Nature in celebration of the 47th Earth Day which is Saturday, April 22nd.

Disney Parks celebrates Earth Day every day in The Animal Kingdom Park in Florida which opened on April 22, 1998. I'd like to share a few shots of  The Tree of Life the iconic centerpiece of the park and symbolizes the beauty, diversity, and grandeur of our animal life on Earth.

It is covered in beautiful animal carvings that you can see from every angle. The closer you get the more you can see the intricacy of each carving around the base and branches. At night the tree comes alive with The Tree Awaking light show.

Tree of Life, Animal Kingdom Park, Walt Disney World, Florida

"You've probably heard people talk about conservation. Well, conservation isn't just the business of a few people. It's a matter that concerns all of us. It's a science whose principles are written in the oldest code in the world, the laws of nature. The natural resources of our vast continent are not inexhaustible. But if we will use our riches wisely, if we will protect our wildlife and preserve our lakes and streams, these things will last us for generations to come."

"I have learned from the animal world, and what everyone will learn who studies it is, a renewed sense of kinship with the earth and all its inhabitants."
~ Walt Disney

Now for my favorite, Kilimanjaro Safaris. This is a popular attraction so you will experience a wait. If you can grab a Fastpass or arrive early. The animals are most active in the morning and during the rain which usually happens in the afternoon. You can read about it here.

How will you celebrate Earth Day? I'll be planting seeds in my garden.
