Hidden Mickey Monday Magic

Our Hidden Mickeys this week are a few of the illusive ones we've experienced at Walt Disney World. Hidden in a table arrangement in Morocco with Steve Barrett, the author and official Hidden Mickey Guy himself. A pumpkin earning it's ears at Living with the Land. A water painted smiling Mickey greeting guests at the Magic Kingdom. Finally a window display at the Beach Club Resort.

Disney Celebrates Family Bonds and Epic Storytelling in New Frozen Product Collection Available in Stores Now

Disney Frozen Castle and Ice Palace Playset
Just in time for the holiday season and the release of the highly-anticipated Walt Disney Animation Studios film, Frozen, Disney Consumer Products has launched a new product collection of role-play items, plush stuffed animals, dolls, apparel, home décor, books and more that capture the family, adventure and fun from the movie at mass retailers nationwide, Disney Store and DisneyStore.com.

Disney's Frozen chronicles the epic quest of fearless optimist Anna as she teams up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

"Disney's Frozen product collection is inspired by the vivid storytelling driven by the family relationships and friendship celebrated in the movie," said Josh Silverman, EVP global licensing, Disney Consumer Products. "From musical dolls that sing when they hold hands to detailed role-play costumes, children will be able to celebrate these themes and reenact their favorite storylines with products that connect them to the characters in an authentic and immersive way."
The wide assortment of products is available now from licensees including Mattel, Just Play and more at mass retailers nationwide. Products are also available at Disney Store and DisneyStore.com.

Our Disney Traditions

We've been vacationing at Walt Disney World as a family for 24 years and that has become one of many family traditions that we've made over the years.
I enjoy sharing our traditions and have written about them on a few occasions for the Magical Blogorail.
You might even say writing about traditions has become one. There's  Our Unconventional (Wacky) Family Traditions, and just in time for the holidays Our Disney Holiday Ornament Tradition at Home.

Here are some of the things that our family feels we must do on each and every Disney trip.
Disney World Traditions

  • As soon as we drop our bags in our resort room we head straight to the Magic Kingdom and Pirates of the Caribbean is our first ride.
  • You all know I love to take a few dis zillion pics while on vacation! Tradition has it that I must get the family in front of the castle shot, the Epcot shot, The The of Life shot and The Sorcerer Hat shot by PhotoPass photographers. I usually lend them my camera and have one taken with theirs. They take such great shots!
  • Hidden Mickey hunting is another family favorite. It's so exciting to discover a new one!
  • Food glorious food! Food is fodder for a whole series of traditions in our family. The first two foodie traditions were Dole Whips and Mickey Waffles.

Mickey Mouse Birthday Tribute! Steamboat Willie & Mickey's Birthday Party Cartoons

Movie Monday ~ Mickey Mouse turn 85!

Welcome to Movie Monday! I hope your weekend was filled with magic and movies.

This week's Movie Monday post is all about Mickey Mouse. The leader of the gang is celebrating his 85th birthday today. It was on November 18, 1928, when Mickey made his official film debut in "Steamboat Willie".

In honor of Mickey's birthday and because it's Movie Monday here on the blog I thought it would be fun to enter the WayBack Movie Machine and view two special cartoon classics.

Ears of Steel: The Real Man’s Guide to Walt Disney World by Bart Scott

Ears of Steel: The Real Man’s Guide to Walt Disney World by Bart Scott
I just finished reading Ears of Steel by Bart Scott and I'm still laughing out loud. Intended for the reluctant male Disney traveler it is every bit as entertaining for woman. While the days of reading out loud to my sons has long past I couldn't help but read passages to them. Even my husband on a long car ride joined in the laughs as I shared parts of this unconventional Disney travel guide with him.
“Slowly place the book in front of his sloping brow,” Scott advises in a prologue called “Hello, Ladies,” and “you’ll be on your way to the Orlando area before you can wish upon a star.”

The Festival of the Masters, presented by Michaels, is an open-air art festival in the Downtown Disney area, featuring more than 150 award-winning artists.

For its 38th year, Festival of the Masters presented by Michaels is transforming Downtown Disney into an art lovers’ paradise Nov. 8-10, 2013. The prestigious open-air fine arts festival features more than 300 artists creating and showcasing their unique works in painting, photography, sculpture, chalk, glass and more. New this year, “Mixers and Masters” will highlight artistic cocktails throughout Downtown Disney. Select dining locations will feature specialty drinks for sipping and strolling including the Pinkberry Martini from Wolfgang Puck Café, Blue Nile from Rainforest Café and Huckleberry Lemonade at Splitsville. Guests can learn what goes into making an artfully delicious cocktail during daily presentations on Waterside Stage. “The Art of Mixology” will feature 10-minute demonstrations with experts three times a day.

Sunshine Seasons is a quick service, casual dining experience located on the second floor of the Land Pavilion in Epcot's Future World. It is a must do for lunch or dinner for everyone in our family. Even the pickiest of our eaters finds many dishes to choose from. The grilled salmon with fresh vegetables is his favorite go-to dinner and mine too.

Feast on the bounty of The Land pavilion’s greenhouses at its food court. Choose from stations featuring Asian fare, gourmet sandwiches, soups and salads, and wood-fired entrées. Try the ginger Mongolian beef or the grilled salmon.

Sunshine Seasons is the place we go to if it's crowded in the park. There is a combination of booth seats ( my choice) around a table or tables and chairs. The best part is that there is plenty of seating and the tables turn over is quick.

Cast members are always on hand to clear the tables for the next guest. It is one of the cleanest quick serve restaurants on property. Check out the Sunshine Seasons Menu.

What's your favorite Quick Serve Restaurant? What was your favorite dish?
